iPhone news: PhoneFace and WritePad Pro

Electric Pocket has added an iPhone version of its PhoneFace photo speed-dial app, already available for BlackBerry and Android users. PhoneFace users can select any photo or avatar for their contacts, take a photo with the iPhone's camera, or let the app automatically locate and update the pictures of contacts with their most recent Twitter profile picture. PhoneFace will launch phone calls, text messages and emails with a simple click on a contact's photo or avatar. PhoneFace is available from the iTunes App Store for an introductory price of 99 cents.
PhatWare has released WritePad Professional Edition, a combination of its WritePad Affairs, Events, and Notes apps that were launched back in May. WritePad now supports Voice Notes, allows multiple folders of each kind, and uses new OS 3.0 features. It also allows users to transfer individual items between several iPhone devices via Wi-Fi, and Affairs now has a reminder feature implemented using the PhatWare provider server. WritePad Professional Edition is available on Apple iTunes for $9.99.

PhoneFace is a simple photo speed dial for your phone. While the graphic quality on Android is not the greatest, photos are a bit fuzy, but it is not bad (could also be a pre-cupcake release issue...). With Android 1.5 (Cupcake) PhoneFace is a nice widget on top of your window. As for where to get your photos, PhoneFace comes with a set of icons or you can use images you have on your phone, as well as your contact photos. But one of its best features is that you can retrieve photos of your contacts on Facebook and Twitter. This means anytime you want a new photo of a friend for their speed dial and contact, you can use PhoneFace to grab them from Facebook. And yes, if you update the photo of a contact's speeddial, their contact photo itself is updated.
So basically PhoneFace is basically a simple photo '
Rolodex' for your phone...

I’ve been testing out SplashPhoto for iPhone for the last few weeks. Until this application I’d been emailing all my photos to Flickr which generally works ok except that the process can be a cumbersome one. SplashPhoto makes the management of your photos especially easy for anyone who uses either Flickr or Picasa (the two web photo management sites supported) because you can upload multiple photos at one time instead of the cumbersome one-by-one process that
email demands.
SplashPhoto allows for geotagging (recording the exact location) your photos. You can also move them between different albums on your handheld as well as upload bunchs of photos at one time to either
Flickr or Picasa.

Review: PhoneFace Speed Dialer for BlackBerry

PhoneFace Speed-dial is an application that allows you to create a picture-enabled speed dial menu. It’s fast, reliable, and it can even get pictures from your friends’ Facebook profile and use them as a caller id picture!
For the most part, the integration of Facebook profile pics with this application is great. Sometimes you’ll get a random fuzzy picture, but I think that has to do with the format the picture is in.
PhoneFace gives you the option of adding a “shortcut” in all menus, making it easy to access your picture enabled speed dial. If you are a Facebook fiend and are interested in your friend’s profile pictures, this application has the option to auto update the caller id pic whenever your friends update their profile picture. It also allows you to take a picture directly from the application to use as a caller id pic, or use one of the included images for home, office, sweetheart and more.
Overall, I give this application a 5/5 stars. It’s reasonably priced, easy to use, integrates very easily with Facebook and your BlackBerry’s memory or media card, and it can scan your entire address book.

CrackBerry takes a crack at PhoneFace
When you hear the name Electric Pocket, what's the first thing you think of? Applications like Flipside, Ringo Ringtone Manager or FindMe for Facebook right? Well, try this one on for size;
PhoneFace.
PhoneFace takes attaching images to contacts one step further...well, maybe two steps. You're able to assign images found on your Berry, your Micro SD or even images from your contact's Facebook account. You can then browse through the images and find the contact you want. Navigation is similar to the smooth album cover flow that you would experience with Flipside. I was never big on Facebook, didn't even have an account until I reviewed the FindMe application. When I first learned about PhoneFace and its Facebook integration, I could almost hear Al Pacino in my head saying, "Just when I thought I was out...they pull me back in."

PhoneFace is a new app from one of my favourite developers Electric Pocket (who brought us Busker, Bugme, Ringo and FlipSide to name but a few…), PF is a speed dial application that scans your Blackberry’s phonebook for contacts with photos and automatically adds them (you can add photo-less contacts and assign one of the many pre-designed icons to them.

PhoneFace for BlackBerry review
Phoneface is similar to
Vringo Facebook in that it lets you sync your contacts with Facebook. This application takes it a couple of steps further. Phoneface lets you have a much bigger picture assigned to your contacts. It also lets you browse your contacts and shows you the picture kind of like Apples cover flow for contacts on your BlackBerry which makes it really easy to find your contacts.
