By AndroidNerds:

As a Blackberry convert, I have been searching high and low (for those who know me, chuckle now.) for a way to set my different ringtones and such for individuals or apps. I have found what i have been looking for in Ringo.

This is a VERY nice addition to the Android OS. I Give it two thumbs up!

Review: Ringtone Remix for BlackBerry

From CrackBerry:

Some BlackBerry users take a lot of pride in personalization of their smart phones. This covers everything from wallpapers to home screen management to ringtones. Ah, those ringtones – the window into our true character. Tired is the cliché of the interaction between the boss and their employee; where the employee’s phone rings and the tune is…less than appropriate. We can’t help it. We hear a song – we love a song, we want that song as our ringtone. Creating the perfect ringtone from the perfect song isn’t so perfectly easy for everyone to do. Think about it, how often do you search for a ringtone already made for you?

Ringtone Remix puts the power back in your hands. You decide what you want your BlackBerry to blare. The application makes it easy to take your favourite song, select a portion of it and make it into a ringtone – all from your BlackBerry. Admit it or not, there’s a slight sense of disappointment when you have your favourite song as a ringtone, but not your favourite part of the song. Ringtone Remix helps you express who you are – the way you want to.

Review: Ringtone Remix for BlackBerry

From Berryfication:

What Ringtone Remix does is allow you to *pin-point an exact moment in your favorite song and make that loop as your Ringtone, Alert, SMS Notification, ect. It uses a zoomable waveform so you can precisely make x-song begin and end where you prefer.

The interface is very basic, attractive and takes about 1 minute to figure out all the ins & outs.

Create Ringtones on Your BlackBerry Using Ringtone Remix

From BerryReview:

There are not that many apps out there that let you make ringtones from your songs stored on your BlackBerry. The latest utility from Electric Pocket does just that for a very cheap $0.99 on sale from $2.99. You just chose the part of a song from your BlackBerry and it will cut it into a ringtone for you.

WindowsMobileCool review of Ringo

I was really hoping for greatness with this program and got everything I expected and more. Ringo lets you easily add the awesome raw power of MP3, WMA or WAV format ringtones to every call tone on your device. You can use your favourite music or sound clip as a ringtone - just copy it to your WinMo phone and select it from Ringo’s easy-to-use interface. In addition, Ringo provides an easy way to set and change ringtones and SMS tones for your friends - just pick from a list of the contacts in your address book is listed. Each friend you set up can have a unique MP3, WMA, Wav or Midi ring and SMS tone.

ZDNet's video reviews of Electric Pocket's BlackBerry apps

I never thought too much about 3rd party application support for the BlackBerry, but I am finding there are actually lots of cool applications and utilities to let you do even more with the device. Three of the latest applications from Electric Pocket that I have had a few weeks to play with are Ringo, PhoneFace Speed Dialer, and Flipside.

Bangkok Post review of Ringo

The Bangkok Post newspaper in Thailand published a review of Electric Pocket's Ringo. Here are some excerpts:

"From my experience of using one and reviewing many, I know that Windows Mobile devices have their own strengths. Unfortunately, ring tone customisation isn't one of them.
On a vanilla WM unit, you can set only one personal ring tone for all incoming calls. And before you can do so, you need to add your favourite music files to the ring tone list in the phone settings. Why Windows Mobile asks you to go so far to accomplish so little is beyond me."

"Luckily, if you want to really customise ring tones and SMS tones on your WM device for caller ID purpose or simply just for fun - and who wouldn't - there are many utilities to choose from. Electric Pocket's Ringo is one of them. Here is a small utility that only does what it's supposed to do, nothing more, nothing less. But it does its job very well.

With clean and simple interface, ring tones and SMS tones can be quickly and easily assigned to each person, each group, or all incomings. Unlike Windows Mobile, Ringo lets you select any sound file from any directory - both on device and memory card, with ease. It also supports multiple file types (MP3, WAV and WMA), even for SMS tones.

In addition to ring tone management, Ringo is also capable of dealing with unidentified and unknown call groups. This ability, as well as its capability to silent selected incoming calls, makes it suitable for caller ID screening as well.

So if you want to customise your ring tones and SMS tones, give Ringo a try. It's a breeze to use."

Ringo for Palm OS is no Dead Ringer

My Centro lets me work out my evil ringtone tendencies better than any phone I’ve ever had, but it still has a few limitations. The biggest is that the built-in ringtone manager can’t handle music on the storage card, which puts a strict limit on how many different ringtones you can use. Also, like a lot of the standard Palm applications, it leaves something to be desired in the looks department.

Ringo is a ringtone manager designed to give you more control over your ringers in an easy-to-use interface.

Ringo Review

The Ringo Ringtone Manager does exactly what the name implies: Manages the use of ringtones on your BlackBerry. Beyond simply setting tones for your calls, messages, and email, you also have full control over the volume of the tones and the vibration settings. It essentially replaces the profile manager on your BlackBerry with a slightly more intricate interface.

Ringo - Not the Beatle, but just as tuneful

...you can personalise ringtones for friends and groups. This is something that I never quite got the hang of using my MDA. But using Ringo its a walk-in-the-park. So now, when my boss phones me I get the "Imperial March" from Star Wars playing and know not to answer! Ringo will play any mp3 file that is on your phone.
