BugMe for iPhone? It Does (But in a Good Way)

From GearDiary:

...let’s presume that you, the reader, are not someone who has been using handhelds for the past 14 years.  You’re an iPhone baby, and Electric Pocket and its well-known product, BugMe!, are completely unfamiliar to you.  In that case, you need to know that BugMe! is a note-taking program that’s like having a pack of Post-It notes on your iPhone.  You can write quick notes and then set an alarm so the program “bugs” you at the right time.

BugMe! Reminder iPhone App Review

From The Gadgeteer:

The iPhone's built in Notes app works fine for entering notes with the touch keyboard, but it doesn’t have the option to use your finger like stylus to write a note. BugMe! from Electric Pocket is a third party alternative that forgoes the keyboard in favor of scribbling with your finger tip. Some of you ‘old timers’ might remember BugMe! from the Palm OS days as it has been around for quite awhile

Quick App: BugMe! for iPhone

From TiPb:

One of my favorite apps from my days using Palm OS was BugMe! Back in the day, it offered functionality that the Palm OS did not have in its Memo/Notes applications. You can pick up BugMe in the app store for a deal.

BugMe! is setup to have a cork board-like interface where you can stick your notes and rearrange them in any order you like.  From the launch screen you can view and rearrange your notes as you want by tapping and holding. You can tap the “New Note” button to create a new note.

BugMe!: A Palm classic reborn for iPhone

From CNET:

There's something to be said for a simple, straightforward note-taking app that borrows from the familiar: sticky notes. BugMe! is one such app.

If the name rings a bell, you probably owned a PalmPilot at some point. That's where the app originated, and call me nostalgic, but I'm happy to see it reborn for the iPhone.

BugMe brings sticky notes to your home screen

From Macworld:

Electric Pocket, the maker of apps such as MailTones and PhoneFace, has brought its note-taking application BugMe to the iPhone. Already available for the Android and BlackBerry platforms, the app lets iPhone and iPod touch users create digital sticky notes with their fingers.

There is no handwriting recognition involved; you just scrawl the note onto the screen and it stays there, ready to remind you that you need to get that task done. The app can use push notifications to sound an alarm at a given time, if you so choose.

What’s more, BugMe can even display your notes on the iPhone’s home screen. Since the iPhone famously doesn’t allow third-party apps to run in the background, BugMe achieves this feat by changing its icon—the only presence it has on the home screen when it’s not running—to display a tiny version of any note you choose.

Quick Look: Ringo Pro for Android

From Just Another Mobile Monday:

I have to admit that I have never been terribly involved with custom ringtones, but this program makes adding ringtones so easy, that I feel like I should start adding custom ringtones for all of my contacts.

Quick Look: BugMe, visual alarms and Springboard notes for iPhone

From Just Another iPhone Blog:

The usefulnessof BugMe can really sneak up on you, and it’s great to have an alarm system that’s visual, instead of the default text-based alerts of the Clock and Calendar apps.  It’s also the only app I know of that can effectively turn your Springboard into a to-do list, and I think it’s one of the most flexible iPhone utilities you can buy for just $0.99.

SplashTravel for iPhone:Swiss Army Knife for travelers

From The Productive Organizer:

I went on a few travels over the years and while they are fun and exciting, the preparation for it and getting my way around can be quite a chore. Wouldn’t having a comprehensive application help a lot in this area?
SplashTravel for iPhone from SplashData aims to do that....I feel that having such an application can be pretty helpful for your trip.

GoodReader, a good text viewer and editor for iPhone

From LA Times' Go Mobile:

We realize the iPhone comes with a Notes app. But if you’re still obsessed with formats like some geeks are, you’ll want to be able to take your .txt files with you. GoodReader recently added the ability to edit rather than just read. So, that’s good! It costs 99 cents in the App Store.

App review: MailTones

From MobileCrunch:

So you’ve been using your iPhone for a couple months or years now. You might be addicted to your iPhone. Even if you’re not addicted, chances are that you have a stock of applications on which you rely heavily. Without a doubt, the single most useful application on my iPhone, and the one I use constantly throughout the day, is email. I live by email, and I read and compose email messages far more often than I make actual phone calls with my phone. To preserve my sanity, I’ve disabled the notification sound for new emails: if I hadn’t, my phone would be making noise pretty constantly throughout the day. But that’s not an ideal situation, because there are times when I do want to be notified of an important new email. Enter MailTones, an application that allows you to set custom alert tones, and makes good use of Apple’s push notifications.

Review: Ringo Pro for Android

From GearDiary:

I have to be honest and admit that I’ve never really been one to play around with custom ringtones for individual contacts. I just look at the screen to see who is calling and decide at that point whether or not to answer. So when Electric Pocket recently asked Gear Diary if we would like to take a look at Ringo Pro for Android, I’ll have to admit that I was a little slow to raise my hand. Now that I’ve had a little time to play around with it, I’m finding it a little fun.

Top 5 iPhone Notes Apps

From TiPb:

PhatNotes is a big, bold drought of note taking. On the surface, it’s covered in icons and colors. Under the hood you can organize “thousands” of notes in folders and groups. It also supports handwriting recognition so you can scribble your note on the screen and Phatnotes will OCR it and turn it into editable text. (A process which works pretty well (and yes, internet, it does OCR and print curse words without any censorship).

You can sync PhatNotes for iPhone with the PhatNotes for Windows desktop client (no Mac client… yet?). Given the price tag, PhatNotes will most likely appeal to hardcore on-device users who want to do as much as possible on their mobile, especially if they already use PhatNotes on the PC and see the sync as a bonus.

For those who like the handwriting recognition but don’t want the higher price and fuller organizational features, the same developer offers WritePad [$1.99 - iTunes link]

Review: BugMe! for BlackBerry, Combining Notes, Tasks, And Alarms

From BlackBerrySync:

Integrated apps are something I really enjoy and utilize. With this in mind, we bring you BugMe! for BlackBerry by Electric Pocket. It’s an app that allows you to combine notes, tasks, and alarms. It’s a note-taker and a reminder, one of those apps that integrates with your BlackBerry seamlessly and helps you keep on top.
