Appletell reviews SplashID KeySafe USB drive
From
Appletell:
The SplashID Key Safe is a handy tool if you find yourself using a lot of different
computers with which you need to share passwords. It’s a USB drive (2 GB) with software to store and generate passwords, as part of a database that stores other information, too.
The SplashID
software takes up a tiny amount of the 2GB. After you create a Master ID (and password), it presents you with a simple database program for storing all your personal information. Web log-ins, sure, but also insurance info, emergency contacts, birthdays, clothes sizes, really anything you want. Beyond the basic fields for URLs and, of course, passwords, there are predesignated and blanks fields allowing you to store info like your car’s VIN and license plate number, along with your insurance log-in or what your spouse has hinted she might like for her birthday. You can also attach a file (like a PDF or image) to the record.

SplashID KeySafe Unlocks Your Cold, Security-Obsessed Heart
From
GearDiary:
Well, now, what do we have here? Generally a software company, SplashData has now taken one of their best known software products and merged it with a hardware product. The SplashID Key Safe is a 2 GB USB drive made to fit on your keychain, but featuring a portable version of SplashData’s well-known password protection program, SplashID. We’ve reviewed various incarnations of SplashID on this site a number of times in the past and we’ve always had good impressions of it. I’ve always liked SplashID because it’s available for so many different platforms.
The Key Safe includes many of the features of the desktop version of SplashID, such as:
- The same password generator as the mobile and desktop versions
- Both Blowfish and AES encryption methods
- Three ways to view your records: View, Panel and Tree views
- Database sync, enabling advanced users to select multiple databases to synchronize with on the desktop and easily share data with other users, even across a network

A security device isn't exactly a sexy gift, but this one is a neat idea that will appeal to a geek's practical side. The SplashID Key Safe is a USB thumb drive that contains encrypted data you put on it. Insert it into a Windows PC or Mac, enter your password, and your data is available. Remove the key, and there's no trace of that data left on the computer. It's a handy way to carry secure data around, and at $30 works as a practical stocking stuffer.Labels: Mac, PC, SplashData, SplashID, usb
SplashID Key Safe Review
From
The Gadgeteer:
As in earlier versions, there is a password generator built in, and a web auto-fill option. Very handy! Your data is protected both by strong encryption and by the fact that it is on a removable USB drive that you can take with you, use on multiple machines, etc.
Key safe is portable, handy, secure, durable, and decently priced at $29.95.

SplashID puts the KEY in USB Key
From
ZDNet's "Mobile Gadgeteer":
I think the concept of making it look like a key is pretty clever, and could resonate with techies and non-techs alike... I have played around with versions of SplashID in the past, but this one definitely piqued my interest. With the ability to completely remove all traces of itself on both a Mac and PC, this is sure to be a winner for many people who are concerned about identity theft, privacy, and security.

The SplashID Key Safe Puts All Your Passwords Safely On Your Keychain
From
GearDiary:
Most people just allow their browser to store their passwords or have them written down somewhere for anyone to see, we are all guilty of it and it honestly really puts you at risk. The Key Safe is a simple device that doesn’t
install anything on your machine and leaves not trace of being there once disconnected from your machine. It closely resembles the shape of a normal key and should fit nicely on your key chain without adding any additional bulk to carry around. You also get 2GB of
storage space to safely and securely store whatever you want.
